John Collins lives near Lansing, Michigan close to his alma mater, Michigan State University. With two teenage kids, he remains busy both inside and outside of his Dewitt office where he is an active teacher, writer, and consultant.
John was a standout discus thrower for the Michigan State Spartans from 1989 to 1992, setting a school record and competing at the varsity level for all four years of his athletic eligibility.
When John is not busy with his work, he competes in the USA Track & Field Master's circuit in the discus. He is also a musician and enjoys road cycling and exercise.
In 2010, the Daily Herald, a widely read newspaper in suburban Chicago, did a story on John's work in forensic science. Please see below to read the story.
